This installation is a spatial drawing in which the space is literally challenged and at the same time also challenges. Formwork boards of burnt wood stretch against the walls as if they were trying with all their might to assert their place. But despite their apparent stability, there is also a fragility in their form and materiality. The wood is marked by fire – a visible testimony to destruction, but therein also lies the possibility of a new creation.
The structure is reminiscent of a figure or an animal, greatly reduced and stripped of all details. What remains is a skeleton, a framework that is struggling with the space. Is it bracing against its own transience or pausing to gather strength for a new movement?
